Qualifications and Experience
With over 30 years as co-founder, CEO, and general counsel of a highly active commercial real estate development firm, I bring deep executive, business, and legal expertise to every endeavor. I have personally sourced, obtained private and institutional financing for, developed, leased, managed, and sold a wide range of properties—including office buildings, shopping centers, strip centers, raw land, triple-net investments, and renovated and sold single-family homes. My experience includes closing complex transactions, raising significant private equity, and partnering with seasoned developers. Through rigorous due diligence and precise drafting of leases, contracts, development agreements, and REAs, I focus on minimizing risk while maximizing value for property owners.
Prior to this, I practiced law as a general practitioner. I earned my JD from the University of Miami School of Law in 1981 and an LL.M. in Federal Taxation in 1982. I am also the author of Miles Away... Worlds Apart, which details my due diligence in uncovering the massive $1.4 billion Ponzi scheme orchestrated by Scott Rothstein, CEO of a 70-lawyer firm, and my decision to report it to the FBI. The book contrasts genuine acts of kindness with Rothstein's apparent generosity—funded by others' money—highlighting true integrity and ethical leadership.
